A small market with a serene atmosphere under the shade of coconut trees in the heart of Chiang Mai. There are several spots where you can enjoy food and drinks purchased from the market. The spacious parking area is convenient, and there is a bamboo bridge for strolling, with beautiful photo opportunities.

Chiang Mai International Airport is an international airport in Suthep subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai district, Chiang Mai province in northern Thailand. It is a major gateway that links northern Thailand to the rest of the region and is currently the fourth-busiest airport in the country.

Chiang Mai station is a 1st class station and the main railway station of Chiang Mai Province. This station is on the east side of the Ping River in the city of Chiang Mai. There are 10 daily trains, not including Eastern and Oriental Express trains servicing this station.

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Ratchaworawihan is a second-class royal temple located on Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai. It was built in 1926 BE (1383 CE) by King Kuena. According to legend, a sacred Buddha relic was placed on a white elephant that climbed the mountain and passed away at the site, signifying the chosen location for the temple.

The original chedi was completed in 1928 and later expanded during the reigns of King Mueang Kaeo and King Saen Kham. The naga staircase with 300 steps was built in 2100 BE (1557 CE), and the road to Doi Suthep was constructed in 1934 with support from Kruba Srivichai.

The temple is a major spiritual and educational site, enshrining a Buddha relic and hosting annual festivals such as the full moon of the 6th lunar month and Visakha Bucha Day.

Wat Chedi Luang is a historic temple dating back to the 14th century and once housed the tallest structure in Chiang Mai. The massive chedi originally stood about 98 meters tall with a base of 54 meters wide. It was completed around 1441 during the reign of King Mangrai but was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. Restoration efforts have since preserved much of its grandeur.

In front of the chedi is a beautiful Lanna-style viharn (assembly hall) with intricate Naga staircases. Nearby is a small shrine housing the Inthakhin Pillar, or Chiang Mai’s City Pillar, which was erected during the founding of the city in 1296.

The temple is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. An annual festival, Inthakhin Festival, is held on the 12th night of the eighth lunar month (usually May or June) to honor the City Pillar and celebrate the spiritual heart of Chiang Mai.

Located on Sam Lan Road, Wat Phra Sing was built in 1345 and houses one of the most revered Buddha images in Northern Thailand — Phra Phuttha Sihing. This sacred image is enshrined in Wihan Lai Kham, a beautifully decorated chapel known for its intricate woodcarvings and traditional northern-style murals.

During the Songkran Festival (April 13–15), Phra Phuttha Sihing is paraded around the city, allowing locals to sprinkle scented water over the statue in a ceremony believed to bring good luck and blessings.

The restaurant, built in a Japanese-style garden, elevates the simple, hearty bowl of curry noodles by introducing premium ingredients and unconventional presentations. 
The dish is traditionally garnished with pickled mustard greens, shallots, lime wedges, and chili oil. Owing to the northern Thailand's centuries-long occupation by Burma, khao soi is a fusion of Thai and Burmese culinary traditions, reflecting the region's diverse history and cultural influences. It's a comforting, aromatic dish that is one of my favorite Thai foods.

The khao soi at Samerjai is best described as bold. The curry broth was deeply flavorful, intense with spice and heavy on the oil. A ladle of coconut milk was added right before serving to supply a little creaminess. Two pieces of succulent bone-in chicken were served in each bowl. The boiled noodles were thick and chewy, in the best possible way. The crispy noodles were quite crunchy, making them a perfect textural contrast to the brothy soup.

When we visited, Khao Soi Samerjai was packed with locals for lunch. It's got plenty of seating. There are also plenty of other menu options, from green curry and fried tofu to more traditional Northern Thai specialties like Khanom Jeen Nam Ngiao and Sai Oua. Samerjai is within walking distance from Lam Duan, so it's easy to visit both of these famous restaurants and make your own comparison!

Waroros Market or Kad Laung, a market where you can find local foods, such as fermented pork sausages, green chili paste, processed fruits and vegetables. Nearby is Ton Lam Yai Market, Chiang Mai flower market.

Tha Phae Gate is one of Chiang Mai’s most iconic landmarks, located on the eastern side of the Old City. Despite modern growth, the city preserves its historical charm with ancient temples, city walls, and gates. These sites continue to host cultural events and festivals like Loy Krathong, Songkran, and the Flower Festival throughout the year.

Kalare Night Bazaar is a less hectic haven for a rest and is host to many shops including artist studios, jewellers, tour operators, shoe & clothing outlets and many others. Essentially it is a large undercover arcade full of shops with an open food court and entertainment area. The food court is unusual in that it operates on a "Coupon Dining" system.

There are several dining options here. The main one is all around the outside of the eating area is occupied by a line of food vendors, each in their own booth. Usually a wide range to suits most tastes, like Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Vegetarian, Seafood etc.

Maerim Elephant Sanctuary, located in Northern Thailand, was founded by Busabong "Pui" Kuetkong out of deep love and compassion for elephants. The sanctuary provides a safe haven for elephants rescued from abuse and exploitation, allowing them to live freely and peacefully. Rather than promoting riding or performances, Maerim encourages ethical, respectful interactions and education about elephant conservation. Visitors gain a deeper understanding of these majestic animals while supporting a mission rooted in kindness, healing, and lasting change.
